The effects of Hurricane Sandy are being felt in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and North-Central states today as people begin to assess the total damage. According to current estimates, the death toll has reached 16 and is expected to climb. In addition, the total in property damages is expected to exceed $20 billion dollars. Mandatory evacuations have been issued in parts of Maryland, DC, and Pennsylvania as flood-waters have reached record heights in some localities.
Exacerbating the situation is the loss of power for over 7.5 million families nationally during one of the coldest parts of the year. Many people have become trapped in their own homes as the flood-waters have exceeded safe traveling limits. This has also limited first responders attempting to make repairs. The Red Cross has initiated a response and is prepared to bring aid to those who are in need in the high risk areas.
GreenWizard is supporting the Red Cross efforts and will be donating 25% of all new sales until October 31st to the relief fund. Customers who would like to participate will also receive a 25% discount off of GreenWizard list price of their package.
